Hot Head Regatta

  • Hosted By: Tempe Town Lake Rowing

VENUE

Tempe Town Lake is a man-made body of water located on the northern edge of downtown Tempe. The lake is two miles long and between 200 & 240 meters wide. There are bladder dams located at the east and west end of the lake, and it is a perfect venue for head style racing.

The race course starts on the south side of the lake, with crews racing east and executing a 180-degree turn at the East Dam. The racers, now heading west, must negotiate one more bridge as they race past the SRP Town Lake Marina toward the finish, for a total distance of 5K. With a total of 5 bridge overpasses, the race course is not only scenic, but challenging for coxswains and steersman alike.

The event headquarters is at the SRP Town Lake Marina, home of the Tempe Town Lake Rowing and Paddling Club. This location is where teams will have plenty of room to store their trailers and spread their equipment out on the grassy knoll along the lake. In addition, it offers clear views of the race course, as all racers will pass the marina twice on the out and back course. Tempe Town Lake and the SRP Marina are truly jewels in the desert.

Food at the Event: The Regatta Committee will have a variety of food vendors available at the event, including plenty of good early morning coffee as the first event starts at 7:00am

There will be Event T- Shirts for $15.00 featuring a connection to all boat types racing. We will also be selling Hot Head Cinch Packs and Polar insulated water bottles.
