Pittsford Crew History

Pittsford Crew was established in 1998 by the Feins family who thought the Erie Canal would be the perfect place for high school students to learn the sport of rowing.  The first year the athletes used two borrowed shells that were kept in a barn in Schoen Place.

Pittsford Crew has now grown to over 130 participants, competing at both novice and varsity levels.  The team rows out of the William C. Warren III Boathouse, located on the canal near Lock 32.  The 5000 square foot structure was built by generous contribution from the friends of Bill Warren and volunteer labor from the community.  In 2003, a boat repair facility was added and in 2004, the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center (PIRC), an indoor rowing tank house was opened for practice.

Pittsford Crew is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the sport of youth rowing in Pittsford.
