Pittsford Crew History

Pittsford Crew was established in 1998 by the Feins family who thought the Erie Canal would be the perfect place for high school students to learn the sport of rowing.  The first year, the athletes used two borrowed shells that were kept in a barn on Schoen Place.

Pittsford Crew has now grown to over 130 participants, competing at both novice and varsity levels.  The team is very proud of its home, the William C. Warren III Boathouse located on the canal near Lock 32.  The 5000 square foot structure was built by generous contribution from the friends of Bill Warren and volunteer labor from the community.  In 2003, a boat repair facility was added and in 2004, the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center (PIRC), an indoor rowing tank house was opened for practice.

Pittsford Crew is a not-for-profit corporation whose program is funded by athlete participation fees, fund raisers and donations.
