 Participants, Coaches, Family, and Friends:

Welcome to the 2006 Midwest Junior Rowing Championship Regatta.

We gather once again on the shore of Harsha Lake to test our competitive spirit and renew the friendly bonds that the sport of rowing has offered us.  As we look to find our speed on race day, we each recall the difficult days leading up to this championship.  I wish each of you the best of racing.

As some of you may know, there have been recent changes regarding qualification for the Youth National Championship regatta.  The Midwest Junior Rowing Championship has now increased its number of invitations to three.  Thiswill provide more opportunity for crews in a region that produces someof the fastest junior rowers and teams in the country.  We consistently rank in the top four of qualifying events for the Youth Nationals.  Thismeans our kids are more likely to place first, second or third atnationals than rowers from most of the other regional qualifying events.

TheAssociation would like to thank the Local Organizing Committee, theCincinnati Junior Rowing Club, for all its hard work putting together atremendous regatta.

I would like to wish the best of luck to all of participants and coaches.  Your competitiveness and passions for junior rowing is what makes this such a great race.
