Warm-Up
Warm-up ergs will be available for SHARED use by competitors in a room at the venue adjacent to the competition room beginning at Noon.
2014 H-TOWN SPRINTS WAIVERS, SIGNED BY THE COMPETITOR OR THE LEGAL PARENT/GUARDIAN THEREOF, ARE MANDATORY IN ORDER TO COMPETE. The 2014 H-Town Sprints Waiver can be downloaded from this website and printed now. Bring the signed waiver to the event. Additional paper copies of the waiver will be available, but competitors under the care of a legal parent or guardian must be present to sign on behalf of their wards.
Event Classifications
· Age-based categories: no handcapping, age is determined as of the actual race day based upon driver’s license.
Adaptive classifications are self-determined. Please inquire about the equipment you need or notify us if you will be bringing any equipment at the time you submit your registration so we can do our best to make arrangements. Please note that the facility and our equipment is limited and may not suffice for all needs.
· Registration fees are reduced from $15 down to $10 for Adaptive Athletes and from $15 down to $10 for Military Active/Veteran athletes (Proof of military service is requested at check-in.) Discounts will be reimbursed to you when you check in at the venue. Please register here or at h-townsprints.bpt.me and pay the full price to secure your spot--please include a note during the registration process to notify us of your status at that time; then you will be reimbursed the discount when you check-in on event day.
· All competitors will row on Concept2 Ergometers.
· Rowers may set the drag factor BEFORE their races begin, but may not adjust the setting during the race itself. Doing so will lead to disqualification.
· Qualification times are NOT required to compete in this indoor regatta.
· The event is open to all competitors regardless of experience/skill levels.
· Rowers must be entered to compete under their own names. Use of a pseudonym or other false identification will lead to disqualification and possible lifetime banishment from participation in future Parati, Rice or Liberty events. However, on the Concept2 racing screen, a nickname is permitted.
· In addition, athletes are not permitted to compete in place of friends or teammates unless a substitution is arranged and approved prior to commencement of race/heat.
· All competitors are encouraged to wear clothing which will not get caught in the slide on the indoor rowing machines. Uni-suits, bodysuits, spandex or all-in-ones are recommended but not required. However, delays which occur during the race due to inappropriate clothing will be the sole responsibility of the competitor.
· Due to safety concerns, we discourage the use of headphones during the competition.
· The format for the H-Town Sprints is “finals only”. Please be aware that any events which are large enough to require multiple heats to accommodate all athletes will have the results combined with other similar heats. The best overall time will win each event.
· Awards will be provided to the winner of each category raced as determined by classification of age and gender. Competitors are only eligible to win a prize for the event in which they are entered. Additional awards, such as H-Town Champion (awarded to the competitor with the fastest combined 500m and 1000m time—one award for male competitors and one award for female competitors) will be provided throughout the event.
Interpretation of Rules
The meaning and application of these rules will be determined solely by the Parati/Rice/Unlimited Rowing Indoor Regatta Committee. All deliberations and decisions by the Race Committee will final; no appeal process exists.
