The Detroit Boat Club Crew and the Friends of Detroit Rowing welcome and invite your participation in one of America's oldest rowing traditions. The Detroit Boat Club Regatta began many years ago as a race on the Detroit River from what is now downtown Detroit up river toward Belle Isle. Of course, these were not the light modern carbon fiber boats we use today, but rather much heavier boat rowed by as many as 10 oarsmen. Believe it or not, we built our own boats at the DBC boathouse. We'll gladly give you a tour of the facility.
