Methuen Grammar School Invitational

  • Hosted By: Essex Rowing Club, Inc.

Athlete Classification

u15 participants must have been born on or after January 1, 2000 or are in grade 8 or lower.

u13 participants must have been born on or after January 1, 2002 or are in grade 6 or lower.

The Pixie event is limited to athletes 100 lbs and lighter.  We will not penalize an athlete that hits a growth spurt between registration and compeition, but coaches should be attuned to this possibility and move them into a non-pixie single before the regatta if appropriate.

Recreational singles include hulls without a fin such as the Peinert Zephyr.  Intermediate hulls that fall between these and an elite racing single must be rowed in the non-recreational category.

Scholastic Affiliation

The Grammar School Invitational is a scholastic event and all crews should be composed of athletes from a single school.  Composite crews will be accepted in fours and quad events only, though they will race in seperate flights or as exhibition entries in the scholastic race.  Registrants should indicate the name of the school they are representing in the "boat name" line of the entry page.

Race Limits

Athletes may compete in only one event for the Grammar School Invitational.  Coaches may apply for an exception to this rule if the event in which the athletes is entered is a straight final and the race they which to add is a straight final as well.

Scratches and Late Entry Fees

There is no fee to scratch before the standard registration deadline.  Entries scratched following the deadline are responsible for their registration fee and refunds will not be issued for entries scratched after this time.  An additional $25 scratch fee will be assessed for any entry scratched on the day of the race, and a $50 scratch fee will be assessed for and boat that does not show up for a race in which they are scheduled.

Late entries will be accepted on a space available basis and will be charged $15 per boat in addition to the standard fee.

Individuals and teams will be responsible for settling all fees within 10 days following the conclusion of the event.  Individuals and teams with an outstanding balance from a previous event will not be allowed to participate in future regattas.
