The Head of the 'Koin is named for the Chadakoin River, the lake's primary distributary, and the finish point for the race. Contestants will compete over 5,000 meters of open water on a nearly straight course. Medals will be awarded for first, second, and third place winners in each event and trophies for first and second place overall based on a standard points scale. Competitors will launch from Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron (former amusement park which once was home to the world's largest Ferris wheel). The picturesque beauty of the Chautauqua Lake area makes this a wonderful spot for a regatta. Fall frequently presents the lake with glassy calm days, cool breezes, and sunshine, idyllic conditions for fall head racing.
