Head of the Lake

COURSE

HOTL's 3-mile course runs through the Lake Washington Ship Canal, Seattle's inland waterway that ultimately connects Lake Washington to Puget Sound. From the start near Husky Stadium, rowers wind through the Montlake Cut,  Portage Bay, beneath the University Bridge and into Lake Union. The course continues around Gasworks Park, to the finish line just west of the Fremont bridge along the Burke-Gilman Trail.

VIEWS

The race can be viewed from the shore along its entire length.  Highlights are:
--The start at the east end of the Montlake Cut.

--Overhead views from the Montlake, Fremont and University bridges.

-- Ivar's Salmon House where the race will finish IF the alternate foul-weather course is used.

--Gasworks Park.

--The finish line in the Fremont Cut near the Adobe offices.

COXSWAIN AND COACH MEETING

No coach/coxswain meeting will occur before the race. The coach/coxswain "meeting" is available on the Head of the Lake web site at http://www.headofthelake.org/coxswain.html. A race official will be available at the Registration/Results tent between 6 and 8 a.m. the morning of the regatta to answer any specific questions, including thoseabout the course or penalties.
