The Nereid Boat Club and the Passaic River Rowing Association co-sponsor this growing headrace located in Northern New Jersey on the tidal waters of the Passaic River.

Conveniently located just 12 miles from New York City, the regatta attracts rowers from the tri-state area and beyond. Scheduled a week before the Head of the Charles Regatta, the HOPR is a perfect way for rowers to test their skills prior to traveling to Boston. 

The ~ 2.5 mile course passes through sections of Belleville, Clifton, Lyndhurst, and Nutley. The start is just half a mile downstream from the Nereid Boat Club, and the finish is roughly 1.5 miles downstream from the Passaic River Rowing Association. The course is challenging with two bridges, turns and tidal current.
