COVID Protocols for the Snowflake Regatta 2021
The Snowflake is a US Rowing Sanctioned event. As such the organizers of the regatta will follow the USRowing COVID protocols to ensure rower, coaches, attendees and officials’ safety at this event.

All content is provided for general informational purposes only. The knowledge and circumstances around COVID-19 are changing constantly and, as such, USRowing makes no representation and assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of this information. The guidelines in this document are subject and subordinate to CDC, Suffolk County, and Town of Riverhead local laws, rules, ordinances and regulations that apply to our event location.
US Rowing COVID guidelines do not condone or recommend disregarding or engaging in conduct not in conformity with Applicable Laws. The organizers of the Snowflake Regatta will implement US Rowing’s safe rowing protocol guidelines:
- All participants (athletes, coaches, and staff) should be monitored by the rowing club, school, and/or coach for any signs of symptoms before travelling to, and during, the regatta. Coaches are responsible for submitting the vaccination and wellness status for all athletes, coaches, and staff to the Regatta organizers at the Pre Regatta Check in. Individual rowers will be responsible for self-reporting at the regatta check-in prior to the Launch meeting.
- When racing in any boat that is not a single (8+, 4x, etc.), US Rowing recommends rowing with the same group. After registration, adding, substituting, or changing boat members will not be permitted.
- Per updated CDC guidelines due to the Delta variant, US Rowing recommends all individuals, including those who are fully vaccinated, wear masks in crowded public setting.
- Masks are required for all rowers. Masks may be removed by rowers once on the water but should be put back on when returning to the dock. Masks should be worn in addition to physical/social distancing unless specifically indicated. During the launch, rowers must assemble according to Regatta’s staff directions. All safety checks will be conducted before crews enter the launch dock.
- All spectators must wear masks and stay within their assigned group area.
- No food trucks, BBQs, or enclosed spaces will be permitted. Open tent areas (no enclosures) will be limited to an assigned area due to COVID restrictions.
