The Head of the Chick was started as a way to provide more racing opportunities to local teams.  There was an event before it at our park created by former head coach, Graham Ludmer, called the Chick Chase.  It was a low key, 5k side by side format race, and it was fun.

We wanted to make the regatta a fun, low cost, low stress, well-run race.  The regatta has more than doubled in size since we began hosting it.  We would like to see it become more popular for college clubs and masters but we are happy with how it's gone.

Over the years, we've had the normal ups and downs of regatta hosting in terms of crazy weather and other issues.  We've gone from no buoys, to a fully buoyed professional course.  We've greatly increased our organization and communication over the years all while working to be friendly, welcoming and adaptable to those that choose to race with us.

The best tradition this race has and you can help us with is constent improvement.  Please let us know if we can make the experience better for your athletes, coaches, supporters, and spectators.
