Jack Nicholson Head of the Martindale

  • Hosted By: Ridley Graduate Boat Club
  • Sanctioned by RCA and ROWONTARIO (2021)

Is this for singles only?  YES, we have categories for Junior, Open, Ltwt and Veteran (30 and over)

What is the course?  The course starts at the 1000m mark of the Henley course, and goes towards the finish, where it goes around 3 buoys towards the island bridge.  It goes through the bridge and then towards the start (following safety buoys to avoid the corner, pylon or weeds).  At the start there are 3 more turning buoys to direct rowers back down the cours to the 1000m mark.

How far is it?  The Veteran Men and Women and Junior Women do one lap of the course, which is about 4km.  The Open, Ltwt and Junior Men do two laps of the course, which is 8 km.

Are there safety and umpire boats on the course?  Yes, there is an umpire on the dock as you launch, one on the start, one on the course and one watching at the bridge.  Safety boats are at each of the corners as well as at the bridge.  All of them are watching for dangers, as well as any penalties that should be posted.

What safety measures are being required for COVID?  We are requiring all who come to do the Ontario "Customer Screening" as well as requriing wearing of masks (except when on the water).  Face shields and gaiters are not suitable masks.  We also ask for all to keep the 2m distancing, whenever possible.  Hand washing and sanitizing startions will be available.  Contact tracing will also be required.
