COVID-19 Safety Plan

ARC and AURC Regatta Protocols

Prior To Arrival

  • Prior to arrival all athletes, coaches, umpires, volunteers, staff , and personnel who will enter the competition venue or club areas will be required to complete a Daily COVID-19 Screening. This must be completed for each day of competition that an individual is present. You can complete your daily screening here: https://forms.gle/BPjbeACETdC6Ezyu9.

Upon Arrival:

  • Anyone who enters the club area or competition venue will be required to provide their information for contract tracing purposes. 
    • For rowers this will be completed through Regatta Central.
    • For coaches, umpires, volunteers, staff and personnel you can complete the contact tracing form in advance using this link: https://forms.gle/zfFpG5SyDAPf3JJk9
  • Clubs will arrive and unload boats into their designated areas (see appendix A).
  • Arriving athletes will be required to go to their designated area, no congregating in public areas.
  • Clubs will be required to stay in their designated area unless racing, using the washroom, accessing trailers in the upper lot or using the water station
  • Clubs on the lake (MM, NSRC) will be required to stay on-site at their own club unless racing.
  • All participants, coaches, and officials will wear a mask when social distancing is not possible.

During Competition:

  • All participants are encouraged to sanitize hands regularly. I.e. pre/post-race, before and after touching equipment, etc.
  • All clubs using the Oakwood Park docks should have athletes exit for a race using the right-hand side of the dock and return on the adjacent side. 
  • Shared equipment must be sanitized between uses.
  • Club members must remain with their club and in their cohort of 50. 
  • All Nova Scotia public health protocols are required to be followed (see https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/restrictions-and-guidance/ for complete list).
  • At no time are spectators permitted to enter the designated club areas and the competition venue except in the case of a medical emergency. 
  • Only athletes that are competing are permitted to enter the athlete area and competition venue. 
  • Crew boats should be comprised of participants within their already assigned club cohort of 50. 
  • During weigh-ins athletes and personnel performing the weigh-ins are required to wear masks.

Facilities Notes:

  • Docks may be sprayed down by regatta volunteers at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
  • Washrooms will be made available at the Atlantic Racing Centre, they will be cleaned throughout the day. 
  • Oakwood House, including washrooms will be off limits to athletes, coaches and spectators. This will be used for the organizing committee, volunteers and umpires only.
  • Clubs are responsible for their own sprayers, sanitizers and PPE.
  • All clubs are required to keep attendance of athletes & staff at the venue. 
  • Coaches will not be allowed to enter the tower, all communications will be via phone or radio.

Upper Parking Lot:

  • Each away club will be provided with a section of the upper parking lot. This section is for trailer parking and accessing the trailer. 
  • Club members are only permitted to enter their clubs section of the parking lot.
  • While club members are out of their designated club zone (see appendix A below) and in the upper parking lot, masks must be worn.

Water Rescues:

  • If an athlete has tipped / fallen and a safety boat must respond, all volunteers in the safety boat must wear their mask while they assist.
  • Masks will be available in the safety boat for the individual who has been rescued and the athletes should put on a mask immediately upon entering the safety boat

Boat Control:

  • Athletes will approach Control and place boats on stretchers provided and step away.
  • Control Umpires will then check over the boat and insert a bowmarker if everything is fine. Any adjustments required will be made by the crew, while the boat is on the stretcher.
  • When Umpires are done with the boat they will step away from the boat and indicate that the boat is good to go.
  • Crew may then pick up the boat and proceed to the designated dock

Tower:

  • Officials and Row NS staff are the only people allowed in the tower, outside of weigh-ins during the designated time.
  • The tower is closed to all athletes and coaches.
  • Any communication between the clubs and the tower must be done via loudspeaker, telephone or through Control.
  • Masks are required if social distancing can not be maintained.

STAY AT HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

  • All regatta participants are responsible for monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19. These include, but are not limited to, cough, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, stuffy nose, loss of sense of smell, headache and/or fatigue (See https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/ for complete list.).
  •  Symptoms can range from very mild to severe. 
  • If an athlete exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms they should NOT attend the regatta in any capacity.
