Head of the Gorge and Tail of the Gorge Regattas

  • Hosted By: Gorge Narrows Rowing Club
  • Sanctioned by RCA and Rowing BC (2022)

Established in 1978, The Head and Tail of the Gorge regatta has run uninterrupted for all but one year during the COVID19 pandemic. The Tail of the Gorge replaced Head of the Elk in 2015, making it easier for participants and spectators to enjoy the evening life in Victoria, rather than having to take a trailer to Elk Lake and re-rig all of their boats.

The University of Victoria has carried the legacy of this regatta for many years,. In 2022, The University of Victoria passed the regatta on to Gorge Narrows Rowing Club.

This year, the Head and Tail of the Gorge Regatta is focusing on community and bringing together athletes, volunteers and community members to share an appreciation for the gorge waterway and the sport of rowing. By participating, you are contributing to the mythical story of rowing the Gorge and conquering it.

Have fun and enjoy the challenge!
