Help Keep Zebra Mussels out of BC Waters
The Pacific Northwest, including British Columbia is the last part of North America that is still free of invasive zebra and quagga mussels. These invasive freshwater mussels cause major impacts to the environment, and also foul infrastructure like hydropower, agricultural irrigation systems, and municipal water supplies. In order to prevent the introduction BC launched the Invasive Mussel Defence Program which conducts mandatory watercraft inspections and decontaminations. If you are from an infested jurisdiction or your boats have been in an infested jurisdiction within the last 30 days (since June 7), please:
1) clean, drain and dry your boats before loading (including deck and seat deck compartments)
2) email [email protected] by Thursday June 30 to let us know what day (and approximate time if possible) you plan to arrive at Elk Lake and we will have an inspection and decontamination unit here to meet you. We will also notify the inspectors that your boats will be inspected and decontaminated here. This will save you the inconvenience of being stopped en route. The unit will inspect and wash the boats with hot water once you unload them. Provided they don't find any standing water or signs of mussels, you will be Ok to launch (and just think how nice and clean your boats will be!)

Rowing BC has just developed an online generic feedback form to allow regatta participants, umpires, coaches, parents etc to provide feedback on various aspects of a regatta. The intent is to help LOCs get information that will help them improve their regatta and for RBC to gather information on what is important to people and what areas can be improved, province wide (ie, identify some commonalities). They would like VCRC to test it for the BC Champes/Challenge West 2016.
We're providing link below and may send an email once the regatta is over to everyone as we feel the survey would be more effective then.
