Rocketts Landing Masters Sprints

  • Hosted By: Virginia Boat Club
  • 2016 Registered Regatta

The regatta takes place on the James River close to downtown Richmond, and is convenient to reach from I95/I64 and also about 20 minutes drive from Richmond International Airport.  There are numerous hotels within a short drive of the course in downtown Richmond or at the airport.

The course consists of 4 or 5 lanes of straight water of 1000m in length , and usually conditions are hot and with calm water.  Non regatta water traffic is controlled by the Coast Guard  Aux, and the River Police.  There are no steering hazards such as bridges to avoid.   Starts will be aligned by US Rowing referees, but will be floating (No Stake boats).

There is excellent spectator viewing of the whole course and participating clubs and individuals are encouraged to bring seats and tents to get an excellent view of the last 500m of each race.

Competitors can enjoy a catered barbecue courtesy of our sponsors Park and Co and Virginia Boat Club with additional food and beverages available to purchase.

After racing there are a number of local restaurants overlooking the regatta site and in the near vicinity
