THE 2015 HIGH POINT AUTUMN ROWING FESTIVAL WILL BE A USROWING REGISTERED REGATTA.

Note, no refunds will be provided for weather related cancellations or for boats scratched after the regular registration deadline. 

EVENT CATEGORIES:

Mixed events:  At least half of the competitors in the boat (excluding coxswain) must be female.

Masters events:  Participation is allowed to a competitor who has attained or will attain the age of 21 during the current calendar year.  Please note  that handicaps will be applied to results.  The High Point Autumn Rowing Festival will use the Garrett/Zezza handicap algorithm. This algorithm is weighted heavily in favor of older rowers. Our race organizers believe there is a great interest in keeping older rowers involved in racing and so has adopted this algorithm for this reason. 

Maiden events: Participation is restricted to compeitors who have never participated in a boat race prior to this regatta.

Youth:  Participation is allowed to a competitor who, in the current calendar year, does not attain the age of 19 years as of December 31 of the current calendar year, or who is enrolled in secondary school as a full-time student seeking a diploma

Youth Novice:  Participation is allowed to a competitor who starting competing after October 3th of 2014 and meets the qualification of a Youth rower.  A rower who has previously competed only as a coxswain can compete as a novice rower.  The novice category does not apply to coxswains – i.e., an experienced coxswain can cox in a novice event.

J16: Participation is allowed to a youth competitor who, has not reached the age of 16 by the day of the event. Thus all competitors must have been born on or after October 4, 1999 to participate in this age category event. 

College Novice: Participation is allowed to college students in their first year of collegiate rowing competition.

Lightweight Events: Participation is allowed to collegiate men weighing no more than 160lb, Male juniors at 150lb maximum, and female juniors weighing no more than 130lb.

COXSWAINS MUST WEIGH IN:                                                                                                                                   Collegiate Men - 125lb. All Other Men's events - 120lb.  All Women's events - 110lb. Coxswains who do not meet the minimum weight required shall carry sufficient additional deadweight to satisfy the minimum.  Such weight shall be placed in the boat as close to the torso of the coxswain as possibleit is strictly forbidden to distribute the additional weight throughout the boat.  Weight will be randomly checked. Clothing, equipment, electronic systems, tools or other utilitarian devices germane to competition shall not be considered part of either the coxswain’s direct weight or the required additional weight.  Coxswains must provide their own specific weights or bags for sand.

Penalties are as follows:
            40 seconds for each missed buoy.

            1 minute for crossing the wrong side of the duck.

            Disqualification for hitting the duck.
