Kitty Porterfield, Bill Fritz and Al Urquia organized the first MidAtlantic Erg Sprints in the fall of 1985. Erg Sprints started with a couple dozen TC Williams High School rowers and has grown to more than 100 clubs and 1,700 rowers.
