East Fork Park’s Lake Harsha has a long history as a rowing competition venue. The 2,000 meter, seven-lane buoyed course has hosted the USRowing Club National Championships from 2015-2017, USRowing Youth Nationals from 1995-2010, and National Collegiate Rowing Championships from 1982-1996. The US Olympic Team Trials for the 1988 Seoul Games were also held at the lake.
Junior and Scholastic rowing has been associated with the lake since the mid-1990s. In 1995, USRowing began inviting junior teams to East Fork Park’s Lake Harsha to offer the nation’s regional champions a chance to compete against the best teams in the country. Now, the official USRowing Youth National Championship rotates to venues all over the county.
