Parking Procedures

Lowell State Park offers limited on-site parking. No spectator parking will be allowed on-site, unless you display a valid handicap placard. Restricted participant parking is available. Please become familiar with the parking policies before arriving.

Off-site Parking

The Oregon Association of Rowers has arranged for off-site parking at no charge at Lowell High School (a mile away), and at Dexter State Park (three miles away, across Dexter Lake from the venue). A shuttle bus will run continuously from Dexter State Park, to the Lowell High School, to Lowell State Park, and return. Organizers encourage those who wish to walk to Lowell State Park from the high school to use the walking trail that starts at the west end of the cemetery.

Organizers strongly discourage parking on the road outside of Lowell State Park. It is a two lane road with a 55 mile an hour speed limit. Not only is it dangerous to park on, the walk from your car to the venue is also dangerous due to a narrow shoulder width.

Rowers

Limited on-site parking is available for rowers and their support staff. Each team will receive two parking permits. Very limited short-term parking will be available for loading and unloading gear, supplies, and rowers. Don’t plan on using the short-term parking for more than 15 minutes.

Spectators

No on-site parking will be available for spectators. Please use one of the off-site parking areas described above. Please do not park on the road outside of Lowell State Park.

Trailers and Car-Topped Singles

Lowell State Park has limited parking space for trailers. OAR has made arrangements to have trailers parked for the duration of the regatta at Dexter State Park, located on the south side of the lake. Twenty-four hour security will be provided at both Lowell and Dexter State Parks. A shuttle bus will run continuously between the parks for the duration of the regatta.

Unloading of trailers will be allowed at Lowell State Park, the main regatta venue. Re-loading at Lowell also will be allowed. Two team vehicles per club will be allowed to park at Lowell, with unlimited entry and exit privileges during the regatta. You will be given two parking permits upon your first entry into Lowell with your trailer.

Rowers with cartopped singles will be allowed to park at Lowell State Park for the duration of the regatta. You will be directed to park near the OAR boathouse. Those who park near the boathouse will be allowed to launch from and land at the OAR dock, rather than the beach. A satellite control commission will be available there. Only pre-approved boats may launch at the OAR dock.

Limited space requires that loading and unloading trailers be coordinated with OAR. By now you should have heard from OAR’s parking coordinator, Debbie Cadigan.

If you have not heard from Debbie before your planned arrival, proceed directly to Dexter State Park, Then, text Debbie at 541-729-2444. She will provide you with further instructions.

Re-loading trailers at Lowell State Park on Sunday is expected to be crowded. You may be asked to wait at Dexter State Park before pulling your trailer over to Lowell State Park. When boats are no longer needed to race, we encourage you to row them to Dexter Park where they can be trailered in relative peace. A low dock will be available there for this purpose. Return your bow number into a bucket located on the shuttle bus.
