Head of the Gorge and Tail of the Gorge Regattas

The launch/landing site for both regattas is Esquimalt Gorge Park, at 1070 Tillicum Rd, Victoria BC  

It's a wet launch. There are clam beds, so wear water shoes. 

 Head of the Gorge on Saturday, starts near Victoria's historic Old Town, runs north under three bridges, shoots through the rushing waters of Tillicum Narrows, and finishes at Esquimalt Park,  Most crews wear costumes for the race, and there are prizes for best costumes.

Getting to the Start line requires you get through the rushing waters of the Narrows, guided by the Angel of the Narrows.  Your crew must be capable of following directions by side & seat. Here's a video that shows how adventurous it can be

Tail of the Gorge on Sunday, starts in the beautiful Portage Inlet, and runs south under the Craigflower Bridge, to finish back at Esquimalt Park.  This regatta features relatively calm water and lovely scenery.
