Novice boats - For OMS, a novice is individual where the current calendar year is their first year of rowing that class of boat, i.e. sweep or sculling.  Examples: a rower has several years of sweep rowing experience but this is their first calendar year in a sculling boat.  For 2x, 2-, 4x, 4-, 8+ all crew members must be novices.

Mixed Boats: At least half of the rowers must be women.
