Learn-To-Row Session #2
All sessions are held at the boathouse. Learn the correct rowing stroke on an ergometer (an indoor rowing machine), rowing terminology, the parts of the boat, and how to carry the boat to and from the dock.
When we move to the water, you will learn how to get in and out of a shell, how to hold the oars, and how to begin rowing. By the end of two weeks, you should be comfortable rowing in a stable training single and in team boats, and will have begun training for fitness and strength.
COVID-19 Pandemic update: Students will be training in team boats wearing masks and following sanitation protocols.
Learn the fundamentals of rowing through land and water based instruction.
Read and complete all documents and forms (ensure you meet all prerequisites, i.e. age, weight limit, float and swim tests listed on the ORU LTR website) prior to making payment. Be aware minimum age is 13 and maximum weight is 190 lb. ORU is not currently equipped for an Adaptive Rowing Outreach Program to include physical or intellectual impairments.
