2025 MHRC (C) 4 Day Learn to Row Camp, Cherry Creek Reservoir- June 16-19
Basics of rowing for 13-18 year olds, in sculling boats and sweep boats, like the 8s featured in "Boys in the Boat".
Rowers must be at least 13 years old at start of camp.
If participants pass swim test requirement (see later in the form), they will wear waisted life jacket on the water. If participants do not meet swim test requirement, they will wear a full vested life jacket on the water.
All participants must be able to hold a 25 pound weight over their head, in order to be able to carry their share (weight) of the boat.
All participants must weigh at least 100 pounds and no more than 230 pounds, and be a minimum of 5'3"in order to row. Those under 5'3" will be trained as coxswains.

Our 2025 Spring Competitive Season
March 3 to May 6, 2025 (or June 15, 2025 for athletes who qualify for Youth National Championships)
This is our most competitive season.
Practice Days:
Boulder Based Athletes: Boulder Reservoir-Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 16:30-18:30; At Cherry Creek-Saturday 8:00-10:30, and Sunday 8:00-10:30.
Denver Based Athletes: Cherry Creek Reservoir-Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 16:30-18:30; At Cherry Creek- Saturday 8:00-10:30, Sunday 8:00-10:30.
Please note:
For athletes’ safety, weekend practice times may be earlier or later due to motorized traffic on the water or weather conditions. Practices will be online when it is not possible to be outside, like during a snowstorm. That online practice is mandatory. Again our focus is on being a competitive team.
You must be at least 14 years old to join the Spring Competitive Team. If you are 13 and in 8th grade, please reach out to the appropriate coach, Coach McCulloch, Head Coach Junior Women, or Coach Moore, Head Coach Junior Men, to discuss. To be ready for the Spring Team, you need to have some prior rowing experience. Any one of these counts: Have completed one of our Learn-to-Rows; Have been on our team or another on-the-water team in another season or be a current athlete of our Winter Season to join the Spring Team.
Attending practices and prioritizing the team is required. Know our absence policy before registering. Absences due to educational commitments like taking the April 5th ACT must be reported two weeks prior. Absence Form — MILE HIGH ROWING COLORADO

Help us help get the team ready for racing, we ask that you not take vacations during this season. We have limited water time due to weather and need to maximize the time that the team trains together.
Important Season Dates:
February 22nd (yes, before Spring Starts) is our own (MHRC hosted event) Denver Indoor Rowing Championships. All athletes are encouraged to enter and race. If you are part of the Winter Season, your coaches will register you. All others, we would love to see you, please put your own entry in. This is a great way to gauge your start of season fitness. April 6 is a Spring Invitational Regatta in OKC, a few select athletes will be asked to attend this regatta. The expected additional cost is $750.
April 19th is a regatta with the Utah Crew in Salt Lake City. All athletes will be permitted to attend, this is not a required regatta and the expected cost is $750. The team will scrimmage with local teams on either April 12th or 26th.
May 2-4, USRowing Central Youths in OKC is our qualifying regatta. This is required. Racing starts that Friday. The team will fly in Thursday, May 1st. Yes, AP exams start the Monday after this race. Please help your athlete be prepped ahead of time for their testing. We will have a coach monitored study room set up in OKC for the athletes who would like to keep studying that weekend. 2025 Spring Development Team
This less competitive team meets four times a week. You must have already completed a Learn to Row to join. You must be at least 13 years old and no older than 18 years old for this program. The focus is on introducing the athlete to rowing, racing and what it means to be part of a team. This group will practice with the main group four times a week. If you are Boulder based that means, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 4:30-6:30 pm in Boulder and Saturday at Cherry Creek from 8-10:30 am. If you are Cherry Creek based, your practices are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 4:30-6:30 pm and Saturday from 8:00-10:30 am. This team will race at a scrimmage May 10. Program fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
We are preparing this group to experience racing at a less strenuous level than the main team. Be sure to understand that the athlete is expected at all practices.
