No Volunteers = No regatta. All teams are required to provide volunteers. Teams need to sign up for at least 1 position per entry. (example: 5 boats entered = 5 positions signed up for) Volunteer needs are based on the 2016 Planned Order of Events.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR REGATTA VOLUNTEERS

Athlete Registration:  Assist regatta director with Freshman and Junior event athlete registration. Report to Hospitality Tent. Athlete rosters and wristbands are provided. Match photo id to roster data before placing wristband on athlete.

Volunteer Check-In:  Checks volunteers in and directs them to their job locations. Contact missing volunteers using master signup list. Advise Regatta Director of missing volunteers.

Friday Set Up:  Assists in setting up for event day prior to event.

Friday Trailer Parking:  Assists teams in parking boat trailers.

Parking Operations:  Collects parking fees and assists in directing vehicles to correct parking areas.

Course Marshal~Friday Rowing Practice: Launch Boat drivers need to be experienced in regatta water operations—no exceptions.  Safe operation of the power boat is critical.   You will maintaining race course safety and keep boats following the regatta traffic pattern.  In the event of a capsized boat, you will notify officials and assist the safety launch. Drivers must be 18 years old, have a FWC boating safety certificate (or equivalent), and safe boating record. First Aid responder/CPR course recommended. Check with the Power Boat Squadron Leader for more guidance and any other special instructions.

Stake Boat Holders:  Listen and take instructions from the Starting Line Volunteer Leader and referee.  It is important for you to maintain silence in this area of the venue.  Directions are provided via radio headsets. You will be holding the end of the boat to help align for starting the race.

Rowing Docks:  Assists teams in getting rowing shells in and out of water quickly and efficiently from launch and recovery docks. Should have experience moving boats in and out of water.  Volunteers must be attentive to the instructions of the Dock Master and referee.

Launch Boat Drivers: Launch Boat drivers need to be experienced in regatta water operations—no exceptions.  Safe operation of the power boat is critical. Referees are responsible for the safe operation of races and they will provide you directions to allow them to perform this task. Drivers must be 18 years old, have a FWC boating safety certificate (or equivalent), and safe boating record. First Aid responder/CPR course recommended. Check with the Power Boat Squadron Leader for more guidance and any other special instructions.

Finish Line:  The finish line referee will provide instructions.  Tasks include manning the finish line flag, running stop watches, recording bow number finish order, and recording finish times.  It is important that the volunteers be present for the entire shift to maintain continuity and minimize training time.

Awards Dock Hands:  Assist rowing teams in and out of the boats to receive awards.  Volunteers must be extremely attentive to the instructions of the Dock Master and referee as other races go by the awards dock.

Hospitality Tent:  Makes sure that the hospitality tent is clean and well stocked.

Crowd Control:  Makes sure that the athletes and spectators are in the correct locations. Must be friendly but also forceful when controlling restricted areas.

Golf Cart Driver for Race Announcer:  Drives announcer following races. Drivers must be 21 years old and have a valid drivers license.
