Head of the Androscoggin

Rowing Invitation - Maine Rowing Association and Bates College Rowing invite single and double scullers to participate in the Thirty-fourth annual Head of the Androscoggin on Sunday September 15, 2019.  The event is a 3 mile stake race on the Gulf Island Pond section of the Androscoggin River. 

Club and US Rowing Memberships - All athletes must be members of both the Maine Rowing Association and US Rowing.  You must be or become a member of both organizations before midnight on Sunday September 8, 2019.

Event Registration - After you have become a member of both Maine Rowing Association and US Rowing, go to the Registration Form section in the navigation bar or click HERE.  You must register and submit payment for the Head of the Androscoggin before midnight Sunday, September 8, 2019.  The only club affiliation you will be able to list on your Registration Form will be "Maine Rowing Association."

An Event Waiver is required of all participants - During your registration, you will complete an event waiver.   You will only be able to complete the MRA 2019 Event Waivers by entering "Maine Rowing Association" as your club affiliation.  You must agree to the event waiver on or before the event registration deadline, Sunday, September 8, 2019.  You may also go to the Waiver section in the navigation bar or click HERE

Boats - Racing shells and recreational shells; singles and doubles.

Classes - Open to males and females; all ages; masters, open, high school and junior.  Classes will be determined based on demographics of entrants and, therefore, some events may be combined.

Entries are capped at 30 boats- Parking at the Bates Boathouse is limited, with room for 30 cars.  Please carpool, no more than one car per boat.

7:00 am     Gate to venue is opened.  Please do NOT arrive before 7:00 am.
7:30-8:15   Registration and bow number assignment

8:15 am      Rowers' meeting and important course description

9:00 am      Race starts, head style at 10 to 20 second intervals
