Clinic with Calm Waters Coached by Charlotte Hollings
Calm Water Coaches Charlotte Hollings and John Dunn have more than 70 years’ experience with the sport of rowing. (Charlotte began in high school while John started as a freshman at Cornell University.) Both have been on US National Teams, winning several international medals. Charlotte has coached at Stanford University, Boston University and Cornell University. John remained close to home, coaching at Cornell, first as the frosh lightweight coach, then varsity lightweight and finally varsity women, for eighteen years.

Advanced Youth Program (2)
A high performance training program for high school boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 18 who have the strength and skills needed for competitive sculling plus a high level of motivation and commitment. Prerequisites: Must have sculling experience and be recommended by the instructor.

Novice Youth Program (3)
Two-week (5 days/week) beginner course for high school boys and girls, ages 14-18, who have not rowed before. This is where every youth who is new to rowing begins.
Novice rowers are introduced to sculling and the basics of handling and safely operating rowing equipment both on and off the water. They learn the fundamentals of blade work, body positioning and control to lay the foundation for a solid sculling stroke.

8th Grade Intro to Rowing
An introductory course for 8th grade boys and girls, with both land and water sessions and an emphasis on fun and learning - not high performance workouts or competition. Using a hands-on approach, the program covers the basics of the rowing stroke, rowing terminology, boat handling, and care of the equipment.
Prerequisites: Must be entering the 8th grade in the Fall. Must be at least 5’ tall and strong enough to lift their share of a 4-person boat (with 6-8 carrying).
